Compelled by her love for color and beauty, Annie Horkan has been painting for 23 years. She has wielded her paintbrush to create paintings, furniture, accessories, walls and canvas rugs, known as “floorcloths”. Inspired to create a unique birthday gift for a friend in 1985, Annie created her first floorcloth, and subsequent orders followed. Although her main passion is her painting, she continues to produce and market floorcloths because she believes the synergistic qualities of art, elegance and simplicity combined with versatile and practical use create a unique product for long lasting enjoyment.

Floorcloths have stood the test of time in her own home for over 20 years where they are unsurpassed for their durability, easy care and versatile pleasure. She is committed to producing floorcloths of the highest quality and craftsmanship, and continuously creates new and fresh designs to uplift and delight the soul.

In past years, Annie has owned and operated two galleries from which she sold her floorcloths, produced a floorcloth catalog, exhibited her floorcloths at major trade shows, been featured in the Spring 1999 Museum Tour catalog, and her products introduced on morning TV in New York.  In 1997, Annie won Third Best in Show for the booth display of her floorcloths at the Santa Fe Furniture Expo. She is also a pioneer in computer generated reproduction floorcloths via a laser printer.

Based in the land of enchantment since 1996, and currently testing ocean life in Miami,  Annie continues to create her paintings and floorcloths. In 1989 she founded Pittrici, a decorative and faux painting business located outside Washington, DC, and many of these special painting techniques are used in her floorcloth designs.
